Why I chose the Graco Extend2Fit over the Graco 4Ever

Our new car seats have arrived and they get an A+ from me and the kids! We’ve had them just over a week and they seriously rock!

Winter, being only 7 months was already pushing the limits on her portable infant car seat. She needed a “big girl” seat, like yesterday. How I envy the parents that can tote their kids around in their portables for a year or longer!

I am a researcher. I like to make educated decisions when it comes to the safety of the children’s products I purchase. While I would if I had to, I’d rather not pay an arm and a leg.

After a few days of going back and forth I thought I had my mind made up on the Graco 4ever but changed my mind last minute after chatting with a car seat savvy friend of mine! I ultimately decided to go with the Graco Extend2Fit. I based this decision off of safety and overall ratings (4.7/5 star).

The two seats are very similar but the biggest difference between the two is that the 4ever is literally “forever” as in, it can hold up to 120 pounds because it can convert into a backless booster. The Graco Extend2Fit only holds up to 65 pounds and doesn’t convert to the backless booster but I figured I could just buy one when the time comes and I don’t mind doing that.

What I really like about the Extend2Fit is that the rear facing weight limit is 50 pounds while the 4ever is only 40! Rear facing as long as possible is the safest way for your child to cruise! Oh… and the price. The Graco 4ever was over $100 more than the Extend2Fit to fit so even though I’ll eventually have to buy a booster, I’m saving money. Plus, I got an amazing deal at Kohl’s because they just so happened to be running a sale and in addition to that, I got $70 back in Kohl’s cash! After the discounts had been applied I basically got 2 for the price of one so my Paisley girl got one too!

While Kohl’s is no longer running the sale, Amazon has them for a very fair price here! We got the Gotham color because I like the clean, plain Jane black color!

Oh – and if you’re wondering what the empty sockets are for in the pictures, they’re for cup holders which we haven’t inserted yet!

I only wish I had one my size because they look so cozy!

  1. What are your thoughts on this seat for infants? I am wondering if I would miss having an infant car seat that clicks into a stroller for times the baby falls asleep and I don’t want to wake them.

    1. I personally loved having a portable infant seat. It was much more convenient for me to carry around my daughter in her seat so she could sleep and I didn’t have to wake her. This seat would work for an infant bit we usually transfer them to this one after they’ve outgrown their infant one!
