We are now halfway into our second week of homeschooling and I thought it was only fair to follow up and let you all know how things have been going! To start, here’s a picture of my cute little student.
I had originally thought that our program was five days a week but I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that it was only three! This has allowed us a lot more wiggle room for planning school time around errands, doctor appointments, play dates, field trips to the library etc.
I was a little worried about my daughter’s attention span but she has been more than happy to sit at the dining room table and do the activities planned out. She even asks “can we do school now?” She loves it!
All of the lessons are very hands-on and fun which keeps her attention for much longer than I had anticipated. In fact, she has not once cut an activity short! Funny enough, I’m always the one telling her it’s time to take a break.
With that being said, I was also worried about how well I was going to be able to handle being “teacher.” When I’m sleep deprived (thanks pregnancy… and life) I get sort of snappy so I was afraid that my patience wasn’t going to be able to hold up. I’ve actually found that having a schedule and goals for the day has allowed me to feel much calmer. I love knowing that there is a plan in place for the day/week. I also feel awesome that we’re being productive and I love being able to be the one to watch her learn and have fun doing it!
We are on to week two and Paisley and her little sister Winter LOVE that the color of the week is blue because it’s their favorite!
One of my favorite parts about this program is that it gives me a weekly library list of books that correspond with our lessons. This gives us a chance to go play at the library and take home some awesome books for the week.
This homeschooling program can be tailored to each individual family and it allows me to skip or add in anything I’d like! For example, I was able to hit up Target for a 70% off sale today and pick up some additional puzzles and learning tools for a whole 30 cents apiece! Tonight, Paisley was so excited to do her letter puzzle and then we called it a night!
So far so good… I’ll keep you posted!
